  1. TPM and Secure Boot, Is it worth a reinstall for Windows 10

Hi, excuse my lack of knowledge, if this is a dumb question or if it’s been answered already, I searched but nothing came up.Is there enough security benefit in running TPM and Secure Boot on Windows 10 to warrant all the pain involved in a clean install? With the current state of the world and its political shenanigans, I’ve got a feeling we might be in for a spate of cyber unpleasantness from all points of the political compass. I don’t really want to upgrade to windows 11 because there still seem to be a few issues with Cubase 11 and some of the plugins, which are unlikely to be resolved qu

    :)

Windows 8 Secure Boot Feature: Not So Secure?

Here is a statement from a Kernal Developer at Red Hat:

I'm not sure this exploits the legacy BIOS but rather it exploits the legacy boot method on MBR drives, injecting a signed key before the OS boots, which you are correct in that it has nothing to do with Windows 8. And the simplest fix would just be to require boot drives use GPT when Secure Boot is enabled in UEFI.

  3. Update your security processor (TPM) firmware

Is it just piece of cake or is this operation dangerous? I'm afraid to loose all my encrypted data???

    3. Clear your TPM

    Important

Before clearing your TPM, be sure to back up your data.
Do not clear the TPM on a device you do not own, such as a work or school PC, without being instructed to do so by your IT administrator.

Follow these steps to clear your TPM:

    1. Go to Start > Settings >
      Update & Security > Windows Security >
      Device security
      .
    2. Under Security processor, select
      Security processor details
      .
    3. Select Security processor troubleshooting, and then under
      Clear TPM, select Clear TPM.

Your device will need to restart before the process is complete.

Windows 8 Secure Boot Feature: Not So Secure?

So Linux is switching to secure boot also? Or they have to because of UEFI?
