Windows 10: Track your laptop via serial number after thief wipes it.

I left my Surface Book 3 on a flight. The airlines company never found it and I checked lost device every day for 2 weeks until all a sudden it updated but the update was that the battery was at 0% and the location went from Orlando airport which was the last place I used it to "never updated". my guess is this is Microsofts messed up way of letting you know your device has been wiped. Can anyone confirm this? Because i think ive had devices that have updated longer then that ago and not said that. Also if its true, can we do anything to lock that serial number or track it??? if not.. WHY THE

TRACKING WITH SERIAL NUMBER

I am Hussain Shihabdeen from Qatar Recently i lost my laptop Dell Latitude E6430 device i have only serial number of the laptop how to track the location with serial number. i mean is there any methods to get notification from the device when connect to
internet i haven't install any tracking software. if i have installed my doubt is if the device is fully erased include other disks with c: how to locate that with serial number...? please help me to locate the device.

 

Track a stolen laptop via serial number?

A while ago, one of my devices on my Microsoft account was stolen. Since Find My Device was never turned on by default, is there a way to track down what happened to it by the serial number?

 

Serial number

The serial number should be on a sticker somewhere on the desktop.

You can also go into the BIOS to find the serial number.
