Windows 10: Tracking lost laptop

I have lost my laptop and have tried to use find my device to track it but it’s not being very accurate. I’m fairly certain that I left it somewhere in my school and find my device is saying that it was last found near multiple locations that are near the school. One thing about find my device is that it gives me different locations when i refresh it but whenever i press the ‘find’ option it says:


We can’t locate your device right now. Please try back later


Along with this, it says a similar message whenever I try to lock the laptop. Is there a chance that it’s not in the school? What should I do from here? I’ve already searched parts of the school and sent emails around the school.

In the event of a lost phone, you may be able to track is using the Find My Phone feature available to Windows Phone 7 and up. There are some things you should consider first regarding Find My Phone:

• The Microsoft Account on the phone must still be set as primary on the lost phone.
• The phone would have to be connected to Wi-Fi to ensure the most accurate tracking.
