Windows 10: Trackpad not working in Windows, but working in the BIOS menu

Hello Everyone,I have a laptop running Windows 11, and as the question states, the trackpad is currently not working in Windows. This began all of a sudden, when I was working on a presentation, when the trackpad stopped moving completely. I did the following:Restarted the computer.Uninstalled the HID-compliant touch pad driver from Device Manager and restart the computer.Tried installing the synaptics drivers from the support website on Lenovo since it is a Lenovo laptop and restart the computer, but the driver does not appear.Updated the BIOS of my laptop since there was an update availabl

Lenovo S740 - Trackpad not working

Hi I'm in urgent need of my trackpad working because tomorrow is the day of a college exam which requires me to bring my laptop without a mouse.

I've just (3 hours ago) installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 1709 .

I've since used Windows Update to update to Windows 10 1909.

I thought Windows Update would provide the trackpad drivers but it didn't.

I've tried to download and install the provided trackpad drivers off the lenovo website but it didn't work. Here's the link to the download page for the drivers laptops and netbooks :: yoga series :: yoga s740 14iil - SG. But it didn't work also.

Things I've also tried:
"Scan for hardware changes" in device manager.
"Show hidden devices" in device manager.

Many online forum posts suggested to change a setting in my BIOS, but I couldn't find it.

Hi thanks for your prompt reply!

1: I did not get any error messages, in fact it said it successfully installed the trackpad drivers. However after a reboot, the trackpad still wasn't working.

2: Safe mode, same issue. Trackpad isn't functioning.

3: I just tried it. When i remove the HID Compliant Mouse from Device manager and reboot, it will appear back inside the device manager. And still the trackpad isn't working :/.

I also can confirm this isn't an hardware issue as 3 hours ago before i installed this new windows, It was working fine on my previous OS.

 

laptop trackpad not working after windows 10 upgrade

the Toshiba website has no windows 10 listing of drivers for my model p50w-b00f (yet).

The trackpad on/off button does nothing.

note: the trackpad does work while booting. the little circle on black screen.
