Windows 10: Trading application denied write access to documents

Hi all - I am having an issue related to importing Scripts thru a trading application called NinjaTrader. When I try to import a script, it continuously tells me that the application is not allowed to write in the folders. I have Windows 10 with Bit Defender as AV. I have tried to disabled the AV, but still access is not allowed. How can I change the Documents access to allow an application to write in its folders?Appreciated!

Documents and Settings is not accessible. Access is denied.

Here is the situation:

• A week or so ago, my old laptop crashed with a hard disk problem (boot block I think).
• I bought a Surface Book 2 and restored my files from backup.
• The old hard drive can still be connected via USB and is mostly readable.
• When I try to open the Documents & Settings folder on the old drive – “Location is not available. Documents and Settings is not accessible. Access is denied.”
• My userID in Windows 10 on the old laptop was “Ken”. When I set up the Surface, Windows chose the first 5 characters of my email address “bilon” as the default userID. I am wondering if that is the reason for the denial of access? How do I get access?
• All other folders on the drive seem to be accessible.

Also, I would prefer to have my userID on the Surface Book revert to “Ken” if possible.

 

Documents and Settings: Access Denied: Windows 10

I have only one account on my computer and tried to access Documents and Settings (N.B. Not My Documents) to try to empty the Temp folder to delete all of the files in order to solve a problem with script errors on Internet Explorer IE11. I was denied access
even though my personal account is the Administrator account.

Advice in an earlier post under a similar topic suggested setting up a new ADMIN account which I successfully managed but "Documents and Settings" did not appear on the list of folders when I selected C:.

I noticed that my account defaulted to a "Standard account" after I set up the new ADMIN account and I could not edit my account to re-establish myself as an (additional) administrator (to the new ADMIN administrator.) Apparently only one account can be
the administrator.

I deleted the new ADMIN account and my account reverted to an Administration Account (instead of standard) and I again tried to access "Documents and settings" under "C:" but was again denied access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated after several hours of frustration trying many different options, including restarting the computer after each change etc.

 

LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied.

I am trying to share a folder on a LAPTOP. I have other a number of other systems that have folders Shared and they work fine, but with this one I get the error "LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied." when I try to access it from a different Win10 system. So I went thru the entire "How to Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10" tutorial step by step. File and Print Sharing is enabled, SMB1.0 client & server are running, and Everyone has Full Access to the Share. Still get the error. I have tried it with the Network Public and Private, with the same result. Any suggestions ?
