Windows 10: Tranferring a Windows 11 Pro license

I know this question has been asked before but I wasn't able to locate clear instructions on how to make this happen.I have an old laptop that is linked to my Microsoft account running Windows 11 Pro that was purchased via the upgrade feature within Windows. This license shows as activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account. When checked with slmgr.vbs /dli it shows the Windows 11 Pro version as RETAIL.I recently purchased a new laptop that is now also linked to my Microsoft account. What I want to do is:1 deactivate the Windows 11 Pro license on the old laptop this lapt

Free upgrade from Windows 11 Home to 11 Pro using 10 Pro retail license

My current computer has an activated Windows 10 Pro retail license. I'm planning to replace my current computer by buying a new computer that comes preinstalled with Windows 11 Home, and then I understand I can use my 10 Pro license to upgrade to 11 Pro for free.

What's the most straightforward way of accomplishing this? The obvious approach that comes to mind involves two steps:

1. Reinstall Windows 10 Pro on new computer and activate with my existing retail license.
   
2. Upgrade new computer to 11 Pro for free through the settings.
   

Is there a simpler way of doing this without having to reinstall Windows 10? For example, would it be possible to somehow "trade in" my Windows 10 Pro license for 11 Pro? I'm fairly new to Windows licensing and am just trying to understand what is possible/best practice, with minimal effort.

 

Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade

Want to upgrade 11 Home to 11 Pro. Tried download, but apparently files transferred were for 11 Enterprise. This will not activate; error is "invalid digital license or product key". This is on a new Surface. How to proceed?

Can withdraw/delete this. The suggestion to downgrade - listed below - with a 'fake' windows 10 key works.

 

Upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro using existing Windows 10 Pro key

Hi there.

I purchased a Windows 10 Pro license from Microsoft online back in 2015. I was e-mailed a license key which I still have. I've been using this license on a Parallels virtual machine on my Mac. I will soon decommission this virtual machine and I will be purchasing a new Windows PC with Windows 11 Home installed on it.

I plan to do a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro on my new machine and I was hoping to use my existing Windows 10 Pro license to activate it. From reading the forum it seems this should work. Any suggestions on steps I should follow? I see talk of people activating with a generic license key and relying on your Microsoft account to recognise you have a digital product key?
