Windows 10: Transfer License Win 10 Pro to New Hardware?

A couple of months ago I bricked a Dell Laptop. Finally got a replacement and realized I have no idea where my Windows 8.1 Pro activation key is that I used to trade up to the free Windows 10 64-bit upgrade.


I have the hard drive from my Dell with the fried motherboard and can read it. Is there a way to pull the activation key from it?


The Dell had Windows 7 when I bought it.

I purchased Windows 8.1 Pro Upgrade online

Upgraded to Windows 10 Professional when it was being offered free

Transfer Win 10 license to a new PC

Hello,

I bought a new PC and read that I can transfer my Windows 10 license to it and I have a few questions.

Few years ago I used Win 7 Pro license to install my two PC's.

When FREE update came I upgraded both of them to Windows 10 x64 PRO.

Yesterday I assembled a new PC which will replace one of them and I want to transfer the license to it from the one it is replacing.

The question is if I transfer the activation license will I lose the activation on the second PC or not?

The preinstalled Windows 10 Pro license on the Surface Pro 3 is not transferable. It is an OEM license.
