Windows 10: Transfer photos from d:drive to USB

I am struggling to transfer photos JPG from D:drive to USB stick for backup purposes. I can transfer one by one fine i.e. they open fine on the d:drive and then open fine on the USB stick. But when I transfer a block of images, and try to open them, for many I get the error "It appears we don't support this file format". Any ideas?Thanks

Right click one of those photos in your Documents folder, then choose Send To' - your USB drive should be bottom of that list

Does that file transfer to the external drive successfully?

If not, what is the exact error you see?

There are many ways to download or transfer photos to your USB device. The best and easy way is to copy and paste the photos to USB. Just select the photos, right-click on it and select copy. Navigate to your USB device and check
the location where you want it to move, right-click it and then select paste.

• Were you able to check if the USB is being recognized by your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting your USB to a different port?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Does the same issue happen on other devices?
