Windows 10: Transfer Windows 10 Pro license from OLD laptop to --> New laptop's OEM Windows 10 home

Hello there,


My old laptop has retired which came with DOS, I bought "Windows 7 pro" for it; then later upgraded it to "Win 10 pro" as Microsoft was generous to let me do that for free.


Now I bought a new laptop which has OEM "Windows 10 Home", I wish to make use of "Windows 10 Pro" license that I already have on old laptop which I don't use anymore.

Please suggest if it's possible and if yes sharing the process would help.

Windows 10 Pro OEM transfer to new laptop

Hi all,

So I have the following conundrum.

My company purchased me a Windows 10 Pro OEM licence, which I installed on my laptop and have been using ever since,

but it is an old laptop and I have just upgraded. The new laptop came with a Windows 10 Home edition.

My question is the following:

How could I transfer the Windows 10 Pro on my new laptop so it gets activated and all?

My second question would be, that could the Windows 10 Home licence be transferred from my new laptop to my old one?

So basically I want the new laptop to contain the old laptop's Windows 10 Pro and vice versa, the old laptop to have the Windows 10 Home edition.

Is there a solution for this?

Transferring Windows licenses / editions between laptops

Well, we don't know if the license on the old laptop is OEM or Retail, so it might have transfer rights.

Even if this is the case, the license on the new laptop is an OEM license, which prevents you swapping with the other machine. If the Windows 10 Pro was upgraded from a retail Windows 8.1 Pro, you would have to remove the license completely from that machine,
then use the Windows 8.1 Pro license to activate Windows 10 Pro on the new laptop.

License Transfer from old to new laptop

HI All,

I had a old laptop with windows 10 pro activated (Along with microsoft account linked). Then i brought a new laptop with windows 10 home activated.

Now i want to transfer the windows 10 pro license to my new laptop.

1. I don't have the old laptop with me as i have exchanged it with the new one (But before that i have deleted the old account and license from the old laptop, so i don't have the old product key)

2. Now i have linked my old old microsoft account in my new system but it doesn't changed to windows 10 pro it still windows 10 home.

Please help regarding this.?Thanks in advance.
