Is there a Microsoft application that allows us to transfer Windows 11 Pro from SSD to PCIe SSD without losing the license?

  2. Migrate Win 10 Pro from OEM HDD to internal PCIe SSD

Migrate Win 10 Pro from OEM HDD to PCIe SSD

Computer: DELL Precision 5820 Tower Workstation. OEM installed Windows 10Pro 64-bit (with latest updates).

The OEM System included installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS on SATA Hard drive. The BIOS is UEFI with Secure Boot enabled and TMP.

For faster startup, I want to migrate the Dell installed OS from the OEM hard drive to a new internal Western Digital Black M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. (Move just the OS and retained the original OEM hard disk inthe computer). I do not want the hastle of a clean
    install of windows 10 Pro.

Using MiniTools Partition Wizard, I mgrated the OS to the SSD (SSD is GPT mode; not mbr). Both the OEM HDD & the SSD now show up as OS drives, However, I cannot set the boot loader priority (in BIOS) to reognize the SSD as a Boot option. I can only boot
from the OEM HDD. I do not want to disable Secure Boot.

I have the latest UEFI BIOS installed. The SSD is installed in an M.2 to PCIe slot adapter card in a compatible (greater capacity, X16) PCIe slot.

Does Microsoft have an update of trusted hardware or drivers for the Western Digital SSD ( M.2 PCIe WD Black SN750 NVMe, model WDS500G3XHC ) Western Digital does not have drivers for the SSD.

Incidentally, Using Partition Wizard, I had no problem doing this exact same change-over to an M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (formatted GPT mode) on my Dell Precision M7510 (exact same OS, with both Secure Boot and TMP enabled). The SSD recognized in the BIOS boot
    priority and boots A-OK.

Note: The TMP sub-version & PC client spec versions are the same, but the manufacturers version & PPI spec versions are later versions than for the 5820T computer. The WD Black M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD is also different model (WDS512G1X0C-00ENX0)

  3. Transfer my OS to SSD?

    Hello Juliana,

I’m sorry to say but Microsoft doesn’t provide the option to transfer only OS from HDD to SSD. However I can recommend the workaround. Please do a clean install on SSD. After that SSD will get the active partition. It will also help you to recover your computer
if it crashes in the future.

Before you start doing a clean installation make sure you have backups of all the important information you have on the PC. After the clean install you will be able to restore your information on the HDD.

Please, follow the steps to do a clean install:

Prepare a USB/DVD. Refer to the support article provided by PaulSey. You can also watch a video on this page

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

After that please refer to the steps provided by PaulSey in his article on How to Clean Install Windows 10 on a PC Step-by-Step Guide to install the Windows 10 on your SSD.

Post me back, if you need further assistance.

  4. Transfer Windows 11 pro OS from SSD to PCIe SSD

Clone present nvme pcie ssd to replacement nvme pcie ssd?

I have a 500GB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe SSD (boot drive) that I want to replace with a higher capacity M.2 card.

Where do I put the new SSD during the NVMe to NVMe cloning process? My mobo only has one M.2 slot for NVMe SSD's so do I want to use an external adapter for one of the M.2 cards? If so, do you have a recommendation?

If you have solved this issue for your desktop or laptop I would like your advice on if and what extra hardware you needed during the cloning.

please remember that I am dealing with PCIe NVMe drives ONLY. NO Sata is involved except possibly for a connecting cable from the desktop to an adapter. I am experienced with cloning SATA III drives but cloning NVMe is a little
    new to me.

Computer: Dell XPS 8920, 32GB ram.

Present SSD: KXG50ZNV512G NVMe Toshiba 512GB

New SSD: CT13049074 Crucial P1 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD 1TB (or 2TB if available soon) or similar storage device.

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, version 1809.
