Windows 10: transfering a backup image to a new replacement drive that is only formatted

I own a dell 15-3567 laptop that has a defective hard drive.i received a replacement drive that has only been formatted.I have ths windows 10 media creation tool on a flash and the image on a wd external drive that is complete with original image and incrimental backups that are current.I am planning to restore the image using the AOMIE backupper tool that i use daily to perform my backups.I would like to know if i can use the media creation tool to boot the drive som i can restore that image to my replacement drive.Could you please send me step by step instruction

Replacing old hard drive, need way to copy Windows installation across

Hey Guys,
What would be the best way of copying/imaging the entire contents of an old system drive over to a replacement hard disk for the same machine? I need to copy the Windows installations and all other data to the new drive, and then format the old drive to use as a backup.

Replace backup disk drive

I'm planning to replace an old external disk drive used for Backup/Restore (Windows 7) with a new, larger external drive. The computer is running Windows 10 Home edition. I have created a Windows Image Backup, but am now wondering how should Backup/Restore
be configured to insure that the backups on the new drive are usable. Can I simply connect the new drive? Does the backup service need to be stopped first? Other steps?

 

format a disk for system image backup using windows 10

Hi,

Please follow the steps below to format your disk to NTFS:

• Press Windows key + X, then select Computer Management.
  
• Click Disk Management.
  
• Right-click on the drive or partition you want to format, then click
  Format.
  
• From this window, you may set your preferred Volume label,
  File system(e.g. NTFS), and Allocation unit size.
  
• Click OK to start the format process.
