    TRANSFERING FILES FROM MY COMPUTER TO EXTERNAL HARD DISK - Acces Denied

    When I try to transfer files from one folder to another it is allowed for transfer the data within the computer. But when I try to transfer the files from my Computer to External Hard Disk, it is not possible to do so.

  2. External Hard disk contents are not visible.

    Hi Pranoti,

    For us to narrow down your concern with your external hard disk, we would like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?
    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?

    In the meantime, we suggest that you update all your device driver.

    We look forward to your response.

  3. No access to external hard disks after last window 10 update

    hello Petra

    Method 1:

    Check whether the external hard disk is detected in Device Manager, right click on it and click on Uninstall the drivers. Plug in the external hard drive again so that Windows automatically installs the drivers. Check if the issue persists.

    If the issue persists, go to the External hard drive in Windows Explorer, right click on it and select Properties. Click on the Security tab and then click on Edit and click on Add and type Everyone and press enter. Select Everyone from the list and place a
    check mark in Full control. Press apply and ok and check if you are able to access the External hard drive.

    Method 2:

    If you are still unable to access your hard drive, I suggest you to refer to the steps mentioned in the following link and try to take the ownership and check:

    Problem when transfering files between two PCs via external hard disks

    Hello

    I am a having a strange problem when i transfer files between my 2 PCs via external hard disk.

    I am using the word "strange" because for example :

    1)I save some files from PC 1 to the external hard disk.
    2) After saving the files i run chkdsk for both the internal hard disk of PC1 and the external hard disk.
    3) Both tests say that there is no problem with the hard disks.
    4) I come to my home PC 2, connect the external hard disk to transfer the files to the internal disk and the following problems always occur :

    a) The external hard disk suddenly shows files that i had deleted them when i was using the external hard disk with PC1.
    b) I try to transfer to PC2 the files i added from PC1. Nothing happens.
    c) I run chkdsk for the external hard drive and it shows that it has errors. Remember : The chkdsk of the external hard drive that i ran on PC1 showed no errors!
    d) I tell chkdsk to solve the errors and this sometimes erases some of the files i wanted.

    Notes:
    ->Both PC1 and PC2 were recently formatted with a clean install of Windows 10 Pro but this didn't solve the problem.
    ->Both PC1 and PC2 are totally updated.
    ->Both PC1 and PC2 have no viruses.
    ->The problem happens with all the external hard disks that i have.
    ->The problem happens with every usb port i use when i transfer the files and when i connect the external hard drive.
    ->I attach 2 txts that shows the chkdsk report that came up with errors when i connected the external hard drive to PC2. Remember : When i ran chkdsk for the external hard drive on PC1, showed no erros.

    Please help!
