    Transfering Windows 10 - Confirming Key


    I'd like to transfer Windows 10 Pro from my old computer to a new one I just bought without Windows. Apparently, I have to call Microsoft to ask about the key and if what I have is transferable. However, the wait time when I call Microsoft for a call back is 21 hours! Is there anything else I can do? Thanks.

    Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

    As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

    Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

    Is the free upgarde transferable? I think not.


    Hi Kari,
    Can you confirm that the computer at step 5 (I numbered your list *Wink ) had never had an activated Insider build (especially not 10240)?

    I'm wondering if it was possible that the second machine activated because the activation servers recognised the hardware from an earlier activation, and not because of the method you used to transfer?
