Windows 10: Transfering Windows license from laptop to VM in the same laptop

I've recently installed linux in my laptop because it fits better to my needs. However, I'd still like to keep Windows on a virtual machine for using some specific programs and looking how things change after updates so I can know how to help family members when they are having problems with their Windows PCs. The thing is, this laptop came with Windows 10 home pre-activated, but, as the virtual machine was created from scratch, I don't know if I can continue using windows with the same license that I've been using it with for all this time. I know it's an OEM license and those cannot usually

Can I transfer Windows 10 license from VM to laptop?

I participated in Windows Insider Preview testing of Windows 10. My Windows 10 was installed on a virtual machine in VirtualBox (as I didn't want to gamble with my production machine). After the official launch, the OS became a regular activated Windows
10 Pro version.

Is there any way to transfer that license (from the virtual machine) to another computer? I guess I won't be needing that VM anymore, but I would prefer to have Windows 10 Pro on my laptop (if I just upgrade the laptop, it would only get Windows 10 Home
license).

i bought the license. My laptop was originally loaded with win 7 and was upgraded free couple of months.

Repurposing Laptop

In my specs I have listed my Sager NP8690/Clevo WU860 laptop. It is getting to be 7 years old now and I am noticing since I cannot upgrade the graphics card, it is struggling to handle the newer games coming out. I can play Source based games just fine but anything newer like Rainbow Six: Siege or Heroes of the Storm, it just isn't as capable as it once was. I was wanting to get some suggestions about what to do with the laptop as it works just fine.

I am looking to get a new Sager soon so I will be transferring the Windows license over to it. I was thinking about putting some flavor of Linux on this laptop and make it a multi-purpose unit of sorts. Possibly connect one of those 6-8 drive bay enclosures as it has USB 3.0 and make it a file server for media and Acronis backups.

Seeing as how the CPU and RAM are pretty beefy, I was also thinking about making this box a game server or sorts, I am sure I could spin up a few VMs for Source, Unreal, or other dedicated game servers.

Just need some feedback and ideas. This laptop is awesome and would hate to see it go to waste.
