    Beginner – Transferring files from old PC to new PC, both running windows 10.

    I'm trying to find a solution in layman terms please.

    Bought a new PC running windows 10, my existing PC runs windows 10 and I just want to transfer everything from old to new machine – what is the best way to do this so that when I go to my new PC it's effectively set up the same as my old PC?

    I use Microsoft Outlook 2013 for my email and I'm about to buy a copy of office 2016.

    I intend to use windows 10 backup to copy my files to an external drive on my old PC, can I then use this backup to restore the files to my new PC?

    Also, can anyone suggest a good antivirus/malware program to run on my old PC to make sure not taking any "problems" with me?

    All help gratefully appreciated.

    Transfer Files from PC running 10 to PC running 7

    I recently upgraded my PC from 7 to 10. We'll call that computer "Oldie Lox." Oldie Lox started having some hard-drive issues, so I decided to be proactive and just replace the Oldie Lox before things went south. My new PC just arrive... we'll call this
    one "Newb." Newb is running Windows 7, which I'm fine with. The problem I'm running into is that Easy Transfer isn't an option on 10. Windows' solution to Easy Transfer is to use Laplink. However, Laplink won't go from 10 to 7, it will only go 7 to 10.
    How do I get all of my files, programs, settings and preferences from Oldie Lox to Newb?

    A couple things to note:

    • I was unable to downgrade from 10 to 7 on Oldie Lox, as 7 was removed from my computer after the upgrade... I thought it wasn't supposed to do that so quickly.

    I have an old PC running W7 and want to transfer files and data, music to a new PC running W10. Easy transfer cable is not so easy with W10. Is there a program or something to accomplish this task? THX
