Windows 10: Transferred old drive to new PC, must I format it.

I moved an old hard drive to my new PC. My new PC came with windows 10 Pro and is 64bit, the old one had windows 10 home and was 32 bit.

I just want to know, is it best to reformat the old disk as I won't need the windows version on that and can I also get rid of the recovery partition on it.

I have deleted a lot of what was on it, but some of the files need permission from I assume Microsoft to delete. I just want to use my old disk for additional space. There is also an issue with the new Windows 10 Pro, where it doesn't seem to go off completely when powered off, in that pressing a key brings it on. In Power and Sleep, I have the screen go to sleep after 10 minutes, but the PC never. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Moving old Windows 10 PC to a new Windows 10 PC, how to transfer settings, program and files?

Hi,

To transfer files from your old laptop to your new one, you can use a Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash drive or a thumb drive. Follow the steps below:

• Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port of your laptop.
  
• Wait for the laptop to detect the USB drive.
• Open a window for the files that you want to transfer and another window for the USB drive.
  
• Select the files that you want to transfer, right-click and then click on
  Cut or Copy.
  
• On the destination window, right-click and select Paste.
  
• Make sure that files are completely transferred before removing the USB flash drive.
• Insert the USB into your new laptop.
• Access the files once the USB drive is detected.
• Repeat the same procedure on how you transferred or copied the files from your old laptop to the flash drive.

formatting old system drive to games drive win 10

I dont think I removed the old drive when installing the new...

And I have already tried what u suggest.

The new drive works fine even with the old physically remove from the case!But there must be a way to format the WHOLE drive,yes?

What du u suggest,then?

USB Flash Drive saying not formatted..?

Hi,

I have a Memorex Poker Chip USB Flash Drive 1GB, and It shows up fine on one PC as "Poker Chip" in explore, and I can transfer files... but on my other PC (the one I'm on now..specs in profile) it's listed only as H: Removable Disk, and when I click on it, it says: "The Device is not formatted, would you like to format it now? (Y/N). Why would it be recognized on one PC, but the not the other? How come the other PC didn't need it formatted? When I click yes to format it, it says: "Windows was unable to complete the format"

I went to the BIOS and USB 2.0 is enabled. And Device Manager does list it as a Memorex Poker Chip..
