Windows 10: Transferring data from old to new laptop issues.

HiI've purchased a new laptop and followed instructions to set up and seems like I've logged into the wrong Microsoft accountI didn't know I had 2 accounts so now my files/data etc won't transfer from old to new laptop! As it's set up does that mean that I can no longer sync them together or does it have to be done manually or through an external hard drive.Help!TIA

• How did you transfer the data from old phone to your new one?
• What type of data did you transfer?
• Did you transfer the data directly to SD card or phone storage?

For your data files you can just use copy and paste from the source to a external drive then copy and paste to the new laptop. If you have enough drive space on a external drive you could make images of both of your laptops. Then do a restore of your old laptop over the new laptop with the free version Macrium Reflect. A transfer of Windows 10 from a old device to a new device has a large success rate. Both versions has to be the same. For example both the Home version or both the Pro version. If for some reason it doesn't work you can restore the original image back to the laptop.

 

USB Transfer to Laptop

Hello Judy,

I suggest you to copy all the files to a flash drive from the laptop.
You may create a new folder on your desktop and name that folder as per your choice.

  Perform the steps to transfer the files from laptop to desktop.
  
• 
  Plug in the flash drive and wait for it to get detected.
  
• 
  Now, open the flash drive and Right Click on the files that you want to transfer and select “Copy”.
  
• 
  Now, open the folder on desktop and Right Click on an empty space in the folder and select “Paste”.
  
• 
  Similarly, you can transfer all other files.
  

As per the file size you can also use an external drive instead of a flash drive and transfer the data.
