Windows 10: Transferring Microsoft Project License

Hello,I have a standalone version of MS Project 2016. It was installed on my PC but due to a problem the hard drive failed and I have had to get a new PC. I have reinstalled Project 2016 as part of my Office 365 suite on my new machine but cannot activate it. I am guessing that this is because it is showing as still installed on my old machine. I have removed the old machine from my MS account but that has not solved the problem. As far as I can see from other discussions I have to physically uninstall it from my old PC though this is not something I have had to do with my other Office apps.

i bought the license. My laptop was originally loaded with win 7 and was upgraded free couple of months.

in this case, if i understand you correctly, i can transfer with below steps. Right.?

let me buy my new laptop and try below.

and to my question do you have an update.

does OS upgrades if my activation key is changed.

Windows 10 license transfer

There is no actual deactivation method.

You can only transfer the license if its a retail license. If it came with the laptop you can't transfer it.

You can first uninstall the key.

Open Start, type: cmd

Right click CMD

Click Run as administrator

At the command prompt, type:

slmgr -upk

Hit Enter

Next, proceed to upgrade the new laptop:

You might need to reactivate by chat support since the license was previously in use.

Transferable license

I transferred a digital license from my old computer to the new one. Then I removed my old PC from the list of devices in the Microsoft account. My question: will the license be removed from the Microsoft account when I remove the old PC that had this
license before?
