Windows 10: Transferring store-upgraded Windows 10 pro license to virtual machine

Hi all,


I got Windows 10 Home OEM version with my laptop which I upgraded to Pro version through store. I have signed in during the upgrade and it shows my license is digitally attached to my account.


I have doubts about the transfer rights of the license. I recently installed Windows in virtual machine after wiping out my hard disk also deactivating license and installing Linux. When I tried to activate license, windows did not allow to activate.

I tried troubleshooting also. It said it cannot activate.


My question is why this is happening and is my $99 purchase going down the drain when my laptop breaks.

Move windows 10 pro license from virtual machine to physical machine.

I need to move a windows 10 pro license from a virtual machine to a physical machine. The license has been bought as windows 10 pro not upgrade etc. The thing is that the computer (Mac book pro) where the virtual machine used to live is now dead beyond
repair and to expensive to use. So I want to install windows 10 on a dell laptop now but I cant deactivate the old license on the virtual machine. Any suggestions?

 

Windows 10 upgrade license

The interesting question is that: the upgrade takes place before 29 of July. If I upgrade the PC (change the MB), and I transfer the Win 8.1 license to this new PC (cause 8.1 is retail FPP), will I be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free? Or a upgrade license must be bought?

 

Transferring Windows 10 license to virtual machine

Hello

I've just built a server and set up a KVM hypervisor on it, and now I want to transfer a little-used mini PC with a Window 10 license to a VM. What implications are there? Can I just virtualize the machine and continue with the VM, since I have a licensed
copy of Windows 10 on the mini PC?
