    I'm using Windows 10 Home edition that I have got through the free update so I don't have a product key and I have a digital lisence instead. In Activation page of my PC settings there states that "windows is activated with digital license linked to your microsoft account". Now I've bough a new laptop that doesn't come with a pre-installed Windows. Since as far as I know free-updated windows 10 has a limit of one-time transfer, I assumed it is worthy to mention that I haven't transferred it ever before. I wondered if it is possible to transfer my windows 10 to my new laptop using the digital

    Hi,

    I recently bought a new laptop which came with windows 10 home preactivated . I have a pc which has windows 10 pro activated through digital license.

    I wanted to transfer windows 10 pro license from my computer to my laptop . when I sign in to my Microsoft account on my pc it shows windows 10 is activated through digital lisence linked to Microsoft account . so I tried sigining in to my Microsoft account
    on my laptop so that I could upgrade via store but I have to pay , why?

    I need to know how I can transfer a Windows 10 lisence from one machine to another, I do not have the product key from the box or anything and my old windows 8.1 lisence I forgot some where! Please help me! Sorry for bad english...

    Transferring Windows 10 Home to a new device using digital lisence

    Transfer digital license from old PC to New one.

    You would have to first ensure the Digital License is linked to your Microsoft Account. See instructions how to do that. You can then use the Troubleshooter on the new computer after installing Windows 10 to restore the license.


    Please note, if your license was upgraded from a OEM preinstalled Windows 7 or Windows 7 license, it is not transferable.
