Windows 10: Transferring Windows 11 Digital Key to a new machine

Hello Microsoft folks,Currently, I am about to finish building my newest computer and need an OS.I plan to use Windows and would like to reuse the OS from my current computer, which is a Windows 11 license linked to my Microsoft account i.e., a digital license. I’ve read in some blogs that this kind of 'transfer' is possible and would like confirmation from the active community here at Microsoft, as I’m unsure if this violates any Microsoft service terms or Windows usage agreements.Lastly, I’d also like to know if I can receive support during the transfer process in case any issues arise. Uninstalling a product key does not deactivate the license, there is actually no deactivation method. You would still need to contact support to actually invalidate the license on the old machine, so it can reactivate on the new machine.

Transferring the license is a step by step process.

First, you either remove the license from the machine by formatting it.

Install it on the new machine.

Contact chat support, then reactivate.

Where Digital license is handy is when you are still using the machine and reinstall Windows 10 and need to reactivate the license after a significant hardware change, such as a hard disk.

a windows site suggests de-activating a device to transfer the -license' / key - to a new device. Is this true and possible in the case of --transfer digital license-- ???

 

transferring a pro upgrade from an old windows 10 machine to a new windows 11 machine.

i just purchased a new pc with windows 11 home. my old pc used windows 10 home that i upgraded with a digital license to pro. i can see the evidence of the pro upgrade in my windows account. how do i transfer the pro upgrade from my old windows 10 machine to my new windows 11 machine?
