Windows 10: Transferring Windows License to a replacement laptop.

I have a Windows 10 Pro laptop that died bought a new Windows 10 Home laptop to replace it. I would like to transfer the Windows 10 Pro license to the new laptop. The key IS NOT an OEM key so I should be able to transfer my Windows 10 Pro license to the replacement computer correct? Alternatively I could buy a OEM key from a shady website but I feel like it would be in MS best interest to transfer my license.

I am running my laptop with Windows 10 Pro version. I have issues with my laptop and want to replace it. But the item i am planning to buy is having Windows 10 home edition.

Can i use my pro license again in the new laptop.?

• how to deactivate from current laptop.
• IHow can I transfer the license to my new laptop.
• will adding this license uograde the OS to pro version.?

i bought the license. My laptop was originally loaded with win 7 and was upgraded free couple of months.

in this case, if i understand you correctly, i can transfer with below steps. Right.?

let me buy my new laptop and try below.

and to my question do you have an update.

does OS upgrades if my activation key is changed.

Windows 10 license transfer

There is no actual deactivation method.

You can only transfer the license if its a retail license. If it came with the laptop you can't transfer it.

You can first uninstall the key.

Open Start, type: cmd

Right click CMD

Click Run as administrator

At the command prompt, type:

slmgr -upk

Hit Enter

Next, proceed to upgrade the new laptop:

You might need to reactivate by chat support since the license was previously in use.
