Windows 10: Transparent box with green cross on screen

Anytime I use PowerPoint/word of which I pay $100 for, this box eventually comes up at some point after using a Ctrl command mostly undo. I tried restarting windows explorer and the computer obviously but it did not work. I tried to Google about my situation, however I only found that people had transparent boxes I have also had this problem.

Cursor "cross" is transparent

Here's an update from my end:

This only happens on my laptop screen when it is plugged into a second monitor.

• If Excel is on the second monitor, then the cursor cross is white.
• If the laptop isn't plugged into the second monitor then the cursor cross is white.

I think the same happens on all Office applications - certainly PowerPoint as well.

From this ^^above, I doubt it is an Excel setting. Not really sure where to start looking for a fix. The issue is that it impedes the use of the application as you keep losing where the damn cursor is.

Clicking on the star with the three bars just opens my favourite web page list
Then clicking on Favourites Bar does nothing
But I have just noticed that when I reduce the size of the Edge window the transparent box disappears and then reappears when I enlarge the window

I have a workaround to stop this happening. I’ve posted it multiple times, I hope the original poster will accept it as the answer as it disappears in all of the answers. Forget searching for something, follow these steps and you will be fine:

1. First do a restart so that the small window is not blocking anything.
   
2. Then click on the blue window at the bottom of your screen.
   
3. Type in "transparency",
   
4. select the first thing that comes up in the search that is "Transparency Effects".
   
5. In the popup turn off the transparency effects.
   
6. You need to restart your computer
   
7. Welcome to not be bothered by this transparent window anymore
