Windows 10: Transparent Windows Boxes

I have a Microsoft surface pro 3 running windows 10.

Recently in programs such as Word or Excel message boxes appear but are completely transparent. For example, if I shut down a Word document a box appears which would usually say Save, Don't Save, Cancel. This box appears but is completely transparent. You have to guess where the options are in the box.

Any help greatly appreciated.

When using editing options (e.g. style, font, colour, fill etc) or using commands such as "Sort" "Insert" etc, the contents of the drop-down menu options remain transparent. They are "there" as I am able scroll down the invisible list and make a selection
but not knowing what until I've seen the consequences!

I am running Windows10, with a current version of Office365 (by subscription). I'd tell you more except that I can't read the contents of the enquiry boxes! Any ideas? (I have an ASUS motherboard as that has appeared as an issue elsewhere.)

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my plea for help. I had already tried a simple rebooting the applications and the PC itself without affect. However, the problem seemed to rectify itself after
the PC had gone into Sleep mode which doesn't really explain anything at all!

I shall retain your advice and certainly try it if the issue arises again. You are very kind.
