Windows 10: Tried change the name on email name to C:\Users\Odd, but still \johns

Hi, 1) I have two users, both is admin and name is . a. sign in -> Local Account, on Settings -> Your info. Local Account is working fine. b. sign in -> email ([email protected]), on Settings -> Your info. I have unfortunately have automatically named C:\Users\johns. How can I changed email name to C:\Users\ ? I have tried this: 1. netplwiz 2. Control Panel\User Accounts 3. Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList But it is only C:\Users\johns or errors. Can you change the name? 2) I have lusrmgr.msc: "This snapin may not be used with this edition of Windows 10. To manage user accounts for this computer, use the User Accounts tool in the Control Panel." It is relevant or irrelevant? Change user name on c drive to match administrator name.

I just bought a new laptop as the hard drive on my old one died. It had two users, “John” and “Jane”. The computer store where I bought the new laptop named it John, but I want it to be Jane. I changed the administrator name to Jane and that works, however when I go to c /users it still list John: for example c/users/John and I want to change that to c/users/Jane. I have not been able to figure out how to change the user name to agree with the user name on the c drive. Could someone please explain how you do that on windows 10? Thank you.

going back to your original post.

when you create a new user, windows creates folders under the c:\Users directory with the account name (ie Geoff) if you rename the user, although the new name is shown on login etc the directory names don't change.

the easiest way to get rid of Geoff is to -

• change the username to something else (or back to Geoff)
• create a new user with your name
• copy all your documents, photos, videos etc. from Geoff to your new user
• delete the Geoff user account and remove folders etc.

this can all be done in user accounts as suggested by Ruth

Under Settings/Accounts
my name is:-
John Smith
my email address
Administrator

Q1 How do I change this to just:-
Pete
Administator?

Under This PC
I have drives C, F and G
In C the user is called John
In F user called Pete
In G user called Pete
Q2 How do I rename user John to Pete?
