    Vista Ultimate - 'User' Folder Location

    No tried that.

    Can copy the entire folder to D; but Windows still points to C as the location. Can change personal folders location to a folder on D;, but this still leaves hidden files etc on C;. Thus meaning there are 2 Users folders. Have managed to change the Public folder location to D;, with some registry tweaks, but this doesnt seem to work for the entire folder.

    any more suggestions

    Changing folder location gone wrong - folder becomes shortcut to drive

    Hello,

    I just got my new HP OMEN 17 laptop, and the laptop has a 2TB HDD and 128GB SSD.

    I was wanting to change some of the folder locations from the SSD to HDD, such as saving the default location for music, downloads, etc.

    I went to the Windows 10 settings and changed default locations, but that's not the problem...

    The problem is that under Windows Explorer and This PC, I right clicked the Music Folder, changed the location from the SSD, i hope. and accidentally changed the location to the HDD main, (D:/), just D:/ no subfolder.

    After saving location, the Music folder, it now becomes a shortcut to the D:/ DATA drive, it's like it went away...

    I tried restoring the location but I end up with an error stating "failed to build the list of regular subfolders under..." or even something different "Can't change parent into child...".

    This is really stressful for me right now, i'm sorry if I didn't say everything right.

    I don't want to perform a recovery when I just received this laptop.

    Downloads folder is the Documents folder

    I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

    Step 1:

    Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Download folder.
    • Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
    • In Properties go to Location tab.
    • In location Tab Click on Restore Default.


    Step 2:

    Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Documents folder.
    • Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
    • In Properties go to Location tab.
    • In location Tab Click on Restore Default.
    After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.
