    KB5034441 Failed --- WinRE

It turns out that this patch Tuesday 1/9/2024 one of my update failed.

KB5034441 with error code 0x80070643. – the issue could be that the recovery

partition (WinRE) does not have enough space for the update

There is MS solution to this issue involves diskpart and reagentc — which

involves shrinking, deleting and (re)creating partitions and formatting the

    created partition

I am not convertible with this manual process, so would using a third party

partitioning program that has a GUI interface to shrink and expand the existing

partitions preserve the existing proprieties that the mnaul process would do?

  3. Windows Recent Update KB5034441 Error 0x80070643 code, Diskpart will not shrink WinRE by 250MB. Why are we shrinking WinRE, shouldn't we be expanding the file size to accommodate the update install???

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

Yes, you must expand the WinRE (Recovery) partition, not shrink it.

The problem with the update is not enough space in the recovery partition to install it.

The shrink option is to shrink the OS partition to open space to expand the recovery partition. (Or recreate it with a larger size)
