    Tried to move Documents file from User to another HD on my computer, now it's a mess.


    Let me preface this with how I got myself into this predicament... I was redownloading Sims 4 after not playing for a while. I downloaded it to my second hard drive I have a main SSD with 125gigs that runs windows 10, and an HDD with 500gigs which was always fine for when I ran it in the past. all the files ended up on the HDD. This time, they didn't... The game was on the HDD, but not the folders, like mods and music and other custom stuff. THOSE ended up under my User files in Documents. Because I don't have enough space on the SSD, I looked up ways to get those folders onto the HDD. Well,

    • What were the steps you've tried to reverse the alphabetization of files and folder name?
    • Can you provide us a sample screenshot of the issue?

    Messed up my documents folder and cannot backup it

    Those things that appear to be folders within ThisPC are not folders at all. They are glorified shortcuts dressed up to look like folders.
    They are actually shortcuts to C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents etc
    With the computer history you describe, I would not be surprised to find that they are no longer pointing to where they should anyway [others have also found this].

    C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents etc are the folders where your files ought to be.

    I suggest you browse to C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents, C:\Users\%UserName%\Downloads, C:\Users\%UserName%\Music etc in File explorer and drag those folders into Quick access so you can be sure of getting back to them easily.

    Then I suggest you re-assess what your situation is.

    A screen shot of what exactly? That I have multiple folders of documents? If I opened them and did a screen shot it would have to show thousands of documents A screen shot of WinRAR? I just want to rid my computer and external HD of duplicate files I
    do not need. I am afraid to do a backup since WIN 10 upgrade as not sure if it will now backup
    to external HD these files all over again. I want to know why I have so many new documents since upgrade

    I need easy directions
