Windows 10: Tried to restore Pictures Folder to default location and now have two copies

Hi there


Last year I moved my Pictures folder location to a larger internal hard drive F. Today I used the option Restore Default button from the properties panel thinking that it would move the location and content back to the initial location which it has but I now have two instances of the Pictures folder each 170gb, one in the default location and one on my 'F' drive. If I add/delete a file to either folder it adds it to the other so I can't delete either folder.


Also, the one in the default location does not have a location tab.


How can I get back to having just one instance of the Pictures folder?

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Vista Ultimate - 'User' Folder Location

No tried that.

Can copy the entire folder to D; but Windows still points to C as the location. Can change personal folders location to a folder on D;, but this still leaves hidden files etc on C;. Thus meaning there are 2 Users folders. Have managed to change the Public folder location to D;, with some registry tweaks, but this doesnt seem to work for the entire folder.

Access Denied - moving Pictures folder to default or other locations

1. copy Documents folder somewhere else
2. unlink my OneDrive account
3. log in again
4. select different OneDrive folder
5. don't sync anythin (untick all)
6. restore default location
7. copy previously copied Documents to default location (it was empty for me, when I did it)
8. unlink OneDrive
9. log in and select previous location
10. (optional) go to OneDrive settings, 2nd tab (automatic saving or something), select that you want your documents to be saved on OneDrive instead of your computer.
