Windows 10: Tried to restore PiN but it keeps asking for my old one

Split from this thread. Hi, I’ve tried doing this, but it won’t let me create a new pin, it keeps asking for the old one, and I never set a pin before

Outlook keeps asking me to verify my pin

Win ver 19045.3324, Office plus 2016, build 2307 16626.20170. For about 2 weeks now, when I go to check mail in outlook, it keeps asking me [every other day] to enter/verify my pin. I typically don't sign out. Suggestions??

 

My computer keeps asking me to make a pin a but then won’t let me make one

Two days ago, my computer has been asking me to sign in using my Microsoft password, then it asks me to make a pin. However, when I try to make a pin it says that it’s having trouble and to retry later. I’ve seen some threads similar to the problem I’m having that’s about two years old. I followed the instructions listed under their threads which told me to hold down shift while pressing restart, then pressing troubleshoot, advanced options then system restore. Now this worked at first but after I shut my computer down and turned it back on I was back at step one. I repeated to process of restoring my system but eventually after doing it so many times it just stopped working altogether. I don’t know how I can stop my computer from asking me to make a pin. This is causing me a lot of stress as I’ve been trying anything that seems similar to my problem on my computer, but I can’t find a permanent solution.

I tried steps of both links:

• #1: reset PIN code
  
  • I see no link "reset your PIN"on login page --> I can't reset it
    
• #2: change or reset windows password
  
  • My Windows account is not displayed at all on login page.
    
  • I am using a local account
    

If you have any other suggestion, I would be more than happy to try.
