Tried to revert to prior release, program failed and computer is now inoperable.

I received a Windows version 10.20 update on 1/12/2022, which made major changes to my desktop. The release also caused my Quicken to freeze. After working with Quicken many hours, we finally came to the conclusion that the issue was the MS update. I tried to use the Recovery option to revert to the prior release, which ran for a long time and then failed. It is looking for an external device to recover, but I don't have anything like that. Any suggestions?

    :)

    Reverting back to IE8

I manually installed the new IE9 Beta to try it out, but there are some issues with it and I'm looking to revert back to IE8. I tried going to my installed updates and I didn't see it there, it isn't under my installed programs list either.

Short of doing a system restore, what else can I do?
