Windows 10: Tried updating my Windows 8 to Windows 10 and now stuck on blue loading screen

Can anyone help me here? I don’t know much about this kind of thing but basically I tried updating and installing Windows 10 on my laptop tonight which was previously Window 8 and all was going well until it said it needed to install updates. It did this once but now it’s on a blue screen saying ‘working on updates. Don’t turn off your PC. This will take a while’ and this has been on 0% for about three hours now. https://imgur.com/gallery/LQDGP1g

How do I fix this? What have I done wrong? I did this through windows free upgrade toolkit thing, completely legit, I had to do some of it on a usb though because I didn’t have enough space. I can’t seem to do anything from this screen and I don’t wanna turn it off otherwise I’m worried I’ll lose valuable data on the computer I haven’t backed up. But I can’t have it plugged into a power source over night either. What’s my best course of action here? If anyone can provide some help or insight I’d really appreciate it, I can’t afford to lose what’s on the laptop.

Help with windows stuck on blue loading bar

Hi guys have a problem with my windows xp, tried to start it up this morning and it loads up to windows xp loading screen.

The little blue bar goes left and right then just gets stuck, so far thats all i get im pretty much a newb as far as things go, i can reinstall windows but i have photo's on c drive from my holiday.

So the wife and kids will be most upset at me if i dont get things going again, so hopefully you guys can halp me sorry if this is in the wrong area.

Windows 8 failure configuring updates and reverting

I agree 8 is awful! It's not for me though... I replaced a broken screen in a Win 8 laptop that was given to me and I am going to give it for free to someone that can't afford one so they can do homework at home. Yes I took it from 8 to 8.1 back on 10/09/2014. This is what I posted there...

"Great post! I found a similar one. I would like to point out that you may want to edit your OP...

1. Step 1 should read to disable AUTOMATIC updates, not disable manual updates.

2. KB2871398 should really read KB2871389

I would like to say that KB2917499 may also be needed as it was in my case. I also had to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter after installing those 2 updates. After these steps I was able to begin my 8.1 download from the Microsoft store. I don't know if it made a difference or not, but I also went into the Bios and disabled "Secure Boot."
