  1. Trojan removed by Defender

With the last couple of builds it seems that Defender is always finding stuff to remove every time I start Windows 10. This morning I removed Trojan Win32/GHEUGENT.Alplock after Defender quarantined it and marked it severe. Right now I am running a full scan on the laptop.

The only thing I have on that laptop is the operating system and Office 2013. I would to find out how I am getting this malware and put a stop to it. Anyone have any ideas?

    :)

Does Windows Defender provide adequate protection?

A Trojan got through And shut off Microsoft Defender and I was unable to restart Defender or remove the Trojan until I

restored to a previous date so I would say that No, Defender alone is Not enough.

    Trojan- Win32/Dynamertic

I am trying to get rid of a Trojan called
win32/Dynamertic and windows defender detects the Trojan but is not able to remove it. Half way through the removal the PC just hangs and I have to go into Task Manger and close defender down. Tried on line and off line to remove the
virus but no luck. Today was my fourth try.

Is there a solution to getting rid of this Trojan???

    Which browser are you using?

If other than Edge, do you have all the security switches turned on(pop-up blocker for example) when you surf(some can be turned of on trusted sites).

If you have JAVA installed turn it off until you need it(some bank sites require it).

Set Flash Player to "click to play" and only click when you're sure of the source.

Download and install Malwarebytes Anti Exploit and leave at default settings(you can hide icon and not show messages to desktop).

If you're using IE11 you can toggle security(turn filtering on/off) in the address bar by clicking the little blue circle next to the refresh symbol(upper right).

  5. I only use IE 11 with the medium high security settings. I installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it found nothing. I also installed their Anti-Exploit. So far the only thing I have noticed is that I get a notification that it is running when IE11 starts up and when it shuts down. The same Anti-Exploit program does not do this in Windows 8.1 Pro.

Here is something weird. I received notification that you replied to my message in this forum on my android tablet. I did not get any such notification on this Windows 8.1 machine or my Windows 10 laptop. It's a head scratcher!

Thanks for your help, I will mark this thread as solved.

You're welcome. The messages with MBAE get on my nerves, so like I said you can turn the notifications that it's protecting off(It always is in the back ground), in taskbar properties. If your using IE then if you haven't turn on and get tracking protection too:

Don't forget Active X filtering and Smart Screen Filter. To be honest using IE, I have never gotten a PUP or Worm or Virus using these settings(One reason that Edge will not be my default browser*Sad)
