Windows 10: Trouble activating SBS 2011 Essentials after moving to virtualised environment

Hi all,I had a physical SBS2011 essentials machine that was moved to a virtualised environment and needed activating due to detected hardware changes.The online update did not work and I had to ring through the phone line. However the activation assistant does not accept the confirmation ID, stating the confirmation ID does not match.The person on the phone said this happens when a device is moved to virtualised environment ,but since the product is based on the now obsolete 2008r2, they cannot provide support and recommended I post here.My plan is to migrate to a newer version of windows but

SBS & Server Essentials

Hi All

I have a SBS 2008 Server that's my Primary DC and I want to make a Server Essentials 2019 a read only secondary domain controller, is this possible, given the fact that I can't have both on the same domain.

Side Note: I'm migrating to M365 and want to promote the Server Essentials 2019 after the migration and decommission the SBS.

 

Active Directory Migration - SBS 2011 to Windows 2019

Hi All,

I am doing a migration from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2019. I have moved all AD roles to the Windows 2019 server and on the last step, I tried to run dcpromo on the SBS server but received an error message that Certificate Services would need to be removed
first.

I used certutil to backup the database from SBS 2011 and then removed Certificate Services. Then, on Windows 2019 server, I used certutil to restore the database.

On The 2019 server, I have two certificates that imported and both show they expired in 2017. When I try to add a new certificate, it says Certificate types not available.

When I run dcdiag, all tests show success however I keep getting the following message:

A warning event occurred. EventID: 0x00009016

No suitable default server credential exists on this system. This will prevent server applications that expect to make use of the system default credentials from accepting SSL connections. An example of such an application is the directory server.
Applications that manage their own credentials, such as the internet information server, are not affected by this.

The 2019 server will be the only AD server in the domain. Is this something I should pursue further? How can I get the certificates to function properly on the 2019 server?
