    Trouble connecting to wifi

Having some issues connecting to wifi. My computer won't detect any available networks. When I try enabling the wifi from control panel, it does not work. I have tried running network diagnostics and I get the message 'there might be a problem with the driver for the wifi adapter.' But if I try repairing this issue as administrator, troubleshooting is unable to automatically fix the issues. Any help on getting my wifi up and running will be much appreciated.

    :)

  2. trouble connecting to wifi network

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot

    Scroll down

    Click Network adapters

    Click Run the Troubleshooter

When complete, restart to see if the problem is resolved.

If not, press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

    Expand Network adapters

    Right click your adapter

    Click Uninstall

Exit Device Manager, restart. Windows 10 should detect the network adapter then reinstall it. Check if you can connect and browse.

    also try:

Open Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Status

Scroll to the bottom then click Network reset.

Install the manufacturer's driver for the WiFi adapter.

You will either have to connect with an ethernet cable or from a computer that does connect to the internet download the driver and save to a USB memory stick.

I've done countless clean installs of vanilla Windows operating systems (just using the Microsoft install media - not the restore disk/USB from the computer manufacturer). It's always been a flip of the coin whether vanilla Windows contained the driver for the ethernet and/or WiFi network adapter.

Another option might be to borrow or buy a cheap USB network WiFi adapter and Windows might have a driver for that that it would install automatically, but again, flip of a coin. (of course if you bought one, it should come with a disk if needed.)

oh - another option which is what I actually use - is a WiFi bridge or extender that has a wired ethernet port. I have a travel router (HooToo) so I can create my own subnetwork and have my movie collection available to all the family's computers available via WiFi to keep them happy.

Once I figure out which drivers are missing during a vanilla install of Windows for a certain computer, I make a disk with all the missing drivers and stash it in a desk drawer in case I have to re-install Windows.
