Windows 10: Trouble Reusing Windows 11 Pro Retail License on New VM After Original VM Corruption

I'm encountering an issue with my Windows 11 Pro retail license. Initially, I used this license to activate Windows on a virtual machine VM. Unfortunately, that VM became corrupted, preventing me from deactivating the license properly. I've since created a new VM and attempted to activate it using the same product key. However, I'm receiving an error message stating that the product key is already in use, likely because I couldn't deactivate it on the original VM.Has anyone else faced this problem? What steps can I take to resolve this issue and successfully activate Windows on my new VM? An

Windows 10 license deleted with VM

I had a Hyper-V session running in which I licensed Windows 10 on the VM.

I have since deleted the VM.

I have started a new VM instance and I would like to somehow reuse the same license. Can it be done?

All VM's (old or new) are on the same computer.

VM Licenses

I'm using a Dell PC with a factory installed OEM version of Windows 10 Pro.

My work requires me to use program editing software from many different vendors, these software titles often don't work well and can cause issue with the PC they are installed on. My thought is to isolate them by using VMs with the software for each vendor
installed on it's own VM - isolated from my Host and the other VMs I would use for other editors.

My new PC with Win10 OEM would be the host. Only 1 VM would be used on the host at a time but there would be as many as 10 different VMs I could run on the host.

Can I copy my host OS to the VM with my OEM license?

If I can't, and I need a new license for the VMs can I use 1 license for the multiple VMs?

Is there an upgrade from OEM to FPP ?

OEM license and VM activation

I am about to buy a Dell laptop, which unfortunatelly has Win10 pro pre-installed. I actually need Ubuntu, but at this time only the laptop version with Windows preinstalled is available. I will have to reinstall Ubuntu on top, but, in long term, I will
have windows running in one of VMs on the same laptop. I am so not up to date with current windows licensing, so can you please tell if OEM license could be reused for the windows in VM? I presume not, as the hardware will be virtualised?? And if not, what
are best options licensing windows for VM? I don't think I will need pro, home would be sufficient.
