    So I've been decades since my fingerprint isn't working, and when I tried to go into "sign-in options" in the settings, it freezes and doesn't let me in, and stays like that until I quit the setting, is there anyway to fix it? along with my fingerprint reader?and thank you

    Fingerprint reader not working on Levovo X1 Yoga

    Hi Sumit,

    thanks for the suggestions. I tried first option, which linked to three drivers (Intel for Windows 10 earlier and later versions) and Synaptics. I downloaded the Intel driver for Windows 10 later versions, which corresponds to my system and installed and
    rebooted. No success. I then downloaded and installed the Synaptics and rebooted. No success. The Fingerprint reader is still not recognized in the Settings/Sign-in Options. Under Device manager, there is still no fingerprint reader under Human interface devices.

    Under the second link it proposes to remove the fingerprint reader software. The only way i can see to do this is through the Settings/Sign in options. But the remove button for the Fingerprint reader sign in option is not active.

    Any other ideas?

  3. Fingerprint Reader not working on Windows 10

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

    As you are facing issues with accessing Fingerprint reader on Windows 10, do let us know the following to assist you better:

    • What is the make and model of your device?
    • What is the device status in Device Manager along with exclamatory mark?

    I suggest you to try few of the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1: Run Hardware troubleshooter as it will help in resolving the issues with hardware and resolve any simple issues found.

    • Press Windows key from the keyboard, click on
      Control Panel.
    • In the Control Panel window, select Category and then select
      Large icons.
    • Click on Troubleshooting, click on
      view all option on the upper left corner.
    • Select the Hardware and Device
      options from the list.
    • Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Method 2: I suggest you to update the drivers for Fingerprint Reader in Device Manager:

    Steps:

    • Right click on Windows key from the desktop and click on
      Device Manager.
    • Expand Human Interface Devices, right click on the
      Fingerprint driver and select Update Driver Software
    • Check if you are able to access the device.

    Hi Jesper,

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    I understand your inconvenience. We will assist you to resolve this issue.

    Before we proceed, we would like to know if you have made any changes to the computer prior to this issue.

    I suggest you to enable the biometric sign in option in setting and check.

    Method 1: Enable the biometric sign in option

    • Press Windows logo key + I key.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Go to Sign in options tab.
    • The fingerprint option will always be visible if there is a WBF-supported fingerprint reader (and its associated driver) installed on the computer.

    If you are unable to find the biometric sign in option, I suggest you to follow the instruction provided in method 2 and then perform method 1 on your computer and check.

    Method 2: Biometric option.

    I suggest you to enable the Biometrics to pick up the Biometrics setting. This option shall be enable by default.
    However, I recommend you to follow the steps provided below and check if it enable or not.

    • Press Windows logo key + R key.
    • Type gpedit.msc and press
      Enter
      key.
    • Under Computer Configuration, navigate to.
    Administrative Templates -->Windows Components-->Biometrics

    In the left hand panel of the Windows, double click on the following:

    • Allow the use of biometrics
    • Allow users to log on using biometrics
      • Select enable option and click on Apply and
        OK button.
    Now, restart your computer and follow the instructions provided in method 1.
