Trouble with WIFI Internet Connection Sharing ICS over ethernet adapter on windows 10

Desktop PC win10 with two network adapters WIFI card and Ethernet on motherboard is connected to the internet through WIFI adapter. TOPBOX is connected through Ethernet port DHCP is enabled on TOPBOX on that desktop. When I activate Internet Connection Sharing on WIFI adapter by check box "allow other users connect through this adapter", TOPBOX gets valid IP address and internet works perfectly on TOPBOX but unfortunately it stops working on that desktop win10 machine. Simply, if I try to open any page it tries to infinity until page failed. However, if I turn off WIFI sharing, then in

  2. Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is slow (Windows 10)

    Hello,

I have a problem with slow internet using Internet Connection Sharing on Windows 10.

The scenario: PC A has no wifi antenna but needs internet. PC B has a wifi antenna and is connected to the internet (via wifi). With an ethernet cable A is connected to B. B is using ICS to share its connection to A.

Both PCs are running Windows 10 Pro Version 1909 with latest software. The wifi and ethernet connections are marked as "Private Network".

As a result, I have internet on both PCs, but on A the download speed is way slower than on B.

    Results on speedtest.net:

    A - Ping 28, Down 3.31Mb/s, Up 2.19Mb/s;

    B - Ping 23, Down 12.21Mb/s, Up 2.23Mb/s

Previously i had Ubuntu installed on B and using Ubuntus ICS feature (it has a different name), A had a way faster internet connection (about 99% of B's connection speed). Am I missing any settings?

Do you have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Problems when sharing WiFi with the Virtual Adapter

For many years I have always shared Internet to my devices like phone and tablet with my PC's WiFi antenna through the Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter, I only use it for that, since I have a cable connection, and I start the wifi with the command NETSH WLAN start hostednetwork previously having done the settings of NETSH WLAN set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="Wifi" key="password".

For my devices to connect it is necessary that the Virtual Adapter that is created with that command has access to the Internet, for this I have to share the Internet from my Ethernet adapter to the Virtual Wifi adapter.

For some time now (a couple of months) I've been experiencing problems when sharing the Internet through that medium. The problem is that when I start the WiFi my devices do not connect, they say "Getting IP address" and never connect.

I have found the solution and I have to do the following:

    1. Disable the Virtual Adapter with the command netsh wlan stop hostednetwork.
    2. Remove the connection sharing from the Ethernet Adapter.
    3. Activate the Virtual Adapter with the command netsh wlan start hostednetwork.
    4. Adding connection sharing from the Ethernet Adapter to the Virtual Adapter again.

By doing these steps my devices can now be connected to the Wifi, but sometimes it doesn't work if I do these steps too quickly. I have noticed that if I do step 3 and 4 too quickly it does not work and I have to repeat the process but doing these last two steps more slowly, until the Virtual Adapter gets an IP address 192.168.137.1 from Internet Protocol version 4

Also this problem does not occur 100% of the time. Sometimes when I run the command to start the Wifi everything happens fine and my devices connect well but this only works after my PC has been on for at least 5 minutes (I haven't counted it). If I run the command as soon as my PC has turned on then it doesn't work anymore.

As I mentioned before this problem didn't occur before because I had configured a .bat file that ran as soon as the PC was turned on with the NETSH WLAN start hostednetwork command and everything worked fine.

Now, I would like to go back to before when everything was fine so that when my PC starts up the WiFi too and I don't have to do all this protocol all the time, but with a simple command everything is solved.

Could someone give me a hand with this?

Can't share WiFi via Ethernet (ICS)

We're having an issue in our office that has me stumped. We have 5 machines, all on Windows 10, and 5 IP phones. The IP phones need to be connected via ethernet, and since we don't have access to an ethernet connection in our building, we share the wifi from the computer to the phone.

The process I used to set up the machines can be found here: Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) - Windows Help

Once set up, each computer and each phone worked great. Then, one by one, the computers stopped treating the ethernet cable as an outbound connection (sharing the signal from the wifi) and started calling it an "unidentified network" with "no internet access" and the phone attached no longer had a connection.

When each computer decides to stop sharing (every few days or so a new one calls it quits) we have just used a working one to share with a switch, and then share to multiple phones from the switch. One by one each computer stopped sharing, and 30 minutes ago the last one stopped, and all our phones are down.

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to why the stop sharing, or any discernable pattern. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since our business has no phones now and we are getting angry emails from customers *Shock
