    Troubleshoot Defender, PUA help


    I have a thread over HERE on some help with some kernel errors/BSODs and the kind gentleman or lady helping me asked me to request some troubleshooting with Windows Defender and to ask for @Ramesh Srinivasan. Ramesh SrinivasanUnfortunately, I dont know what kind of help i need: Anyone available to help?

    pua notification won,t go away

    Hi #seahawk#

    Thank you for the screenshot, Defend does not list the app it considers to be a PUA, the best option is to perform an offline scan with Defender, then download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a full scan with that, those scans should remove the PUA from your PC.

    Facebook Messenger flagged as PUA

    Hi JakubKukačka,

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    A PUA just indicates a Potentially Unwanted App, that does not indicate the file is infected with malware,

    Defender seems to be marking the uninstaller for Facebook Messenger as a PUA, if you downloaded that from the official website, then you can ignore that notification, or you can follow the steps on that notification to allow that app on your PC if you trust the app and the download location.
