    'Trusted Device' Question

I'm planning to 'untrust' a Device (Laptop) from my Microsoft Account so that, if my Laptop gets lost or stolen, I'm at less risk.

I'm assuming I will still be able to use the 'untrusted' Device to sign-in, but will be prompted to Enter - not only my Email Address and Password - but also the code Microsoft Sends to my Authenticator App.

Is this correct, or will 'untrusting' a Device mean I can't use it to sign-in at all, even with an Authenticator Code?

Thanks in advance of any reply (appreciated).

    :)

    Trust Own Device?

    Hello,

If you are prompted to trust a device, it could be that User Account Control is configured on your device, or that an application is causing this prompt for trusting the device. For us to isolate the issue in getting a notification about trusting a device,
kindly respond to the questions below:

    • After sending your laptop for repairs, are there any third-party applications that was installed on your device?
    • Can we have the exact message that you get? If possible, kindly post a screenshot of the message.

We look forward to your response.

    Trust Own Device?

We appreciate the information that you have provided. It could be that your laptop is not designated to be a
trusted device. If a device is not designated to be a trusted device, Microsoft would ask for a security code to make sure that only you can get in your account when you view or edit sensitive info to your Microsoft account
    - like credit card details. You may add your device as a trusted device
    by following the steps below:

    • On the device that you want to trust, go to the Security settings page and sign in to your Microsoft account.
    • You'll be prompted to enter a security code. Choose whether to receive the code through email, text, or an authenticator app. Once you have the code, enter it in the box.
    • Select the I sign in frequently on this device. Don't ask me for a code
check box, and then select Submit.

You can now sign in and edit your info on that device whenever you want, without entering another security code.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask us.

    Surface Pro4 trusted devices

    Hello James,

Have you already synced this My Book1140 with his Microsoft Account?

Suggest you to login to your Microsoft Account and check whether this My Book1140 is listed as a trusted device. If you have already added this as a trusted device in Microsoft Account then it will get automatically synced if you use the same Microsoft account
    in some other devices.
