    Trying to add JRE 64 Bit for Libre office without success


    Hello I'm at a loss with this.
    I recently had a HD failure which has required a new HD and a fresh install of W10. I lost the Windows office style extra that I had with the pc and don't seem able to re-install it so I got LibreOffice to allow me to compose letters etc.


    I want to use Librebase to make a DataDase but I keep getting the error [ LibreOffice requires a 64-bit Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. Please install a JRE and restart LibreOffice.]
    I download the Java, it says successfully installed but as soon as I try to build the DataBase it gives that error message.

    Can anyone give me any assistance please.
    I'm not to strong on the PC internals.

    The only other suggestion that I can come up with is:

    Uninstall Libre Office and Java

    Geek Uninstaller - the best FREE uninstaller - scan for leftovers then reboot.

    Try installing 32bit Libre Office and 32bit JRE.

    If you get an error then there's a problem with your old libreoffice installation and it has not been fully removed.

    Here I installed 32bit libre office on 64bit windows - no problem.

    You do not always need to use 64bit software on 64bit windows. Example: Typically I refer to install 32bit versions of browsers on 64bit windows.

    Hi there
    I think you might need to install a version or two back of the JRE rather than the current one -- also ensure your version of Libre office is 64 bit.

    It's a bit overkill but if you install the whole kybosh (the JDK --the development kit) that might also work as well.

    Personally though I'd look at KINGSOFT OFFICE rather than LIBRE OFFICE --seems to be more compatible --certainly as far as EXCEL is concerned and doesn't need messing around with the JAVA stuff.
