    Trying to add phone number to my primary alias and it won't take. Tried all the avenues. I need this to tx rewards to my paypal. Any assistance is appreciated.

    Sorry to inform you that there is no option to add a telephone number as Alias.

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    I understand that you are trying to add you cell phone number to your alias list and you see the error "This phone number is already taken. Please try another."



    Ideally, this error comes up when the phone number is already associated to a Microsoft account. We would like to know whether you have used the same number on any other Microsoft account.



    However, to add an alias, we would suggest you to refer the section
    I want to use a different email address or phone number to sign in     from the article

    Change the email address or phone number for your Microsoft account    .



    You can also get in touch with the Microsoft account team by emailing them. Please refer,

    I want to add my cell phone number to my alias list, but keep getting the message, "This phone number is already taken. Please try another." How can I use my cell
    phone number as a second alias? I have had my cell phone number for 10+ years.
