  1. Trying to avoid the Windows 11 download/install, after accidently clicking the upgrade button

I've read through other posts about this, but I have not found any exact solutions that does not entail the whole Windows 11 install to then revert to Windows 10 Pro again. As I've read to many problem situations with Windows 11 and I rather not have Windows 11 on my computer, even for a few minutes. So essentially I'd like to know if either doing an, "In Place upgrade to Windows 10 Pro" or Clearing the Windows Update cache, or going into the system registry, or disabling and the re-enabling the Windows services. If any of those or something else might void the Windows 11 from downloading and h

Windows 8 Upgrade Streamlined to 11 Clicks

For those who upgrade between succeeding versions of Microsoft Windows, the upgrade installer can be cumbersome. There are way too many prompts and clicks. Microsoft is working to make the upgrade package of its next major version of Windows, for now referred to as Windows 8, streamlined to as few as 11 clicks. The new installer will be designed to perform most of its tasks without needing user input.

Microsoft will implement a new web-delivery method, where you purchase your Windows 8 license online, and the installer downloads your soft copy to you. It is pre-fed with your 25-character product key. Microsoft's next major Windows release is slated for 2012.

  3. Windows 8 Upgrade Streamlined to 11 Clicks

8 clicks too many IMO, unless of course there are issues that the user needs to resolve. 11 is far too many. WHAT are they thinking that "11" is a goal to trumpet! Really, 1 click to accept install, 1 click to accept license agreement, and 1 click to confirm default standard installation not custom.

(Actually, today, it is 12 clicks too many. You shouldn't even run the installer and should stick with XP ... *Wink Trying to avoid the Windows 11 download/install, after accidently clicking the upgrade button ;) LOL)

    Windows 10 forced download

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").

To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:
    • Right-click on your C: drive.
    • Select "Properties".
    • Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
    • After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
    • Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
    • Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.
