Windows 10: trying to clear or enter new password in WIN8

I am trying to see if possible to setup an old Toshiba Satellite Model C55 A530D laptop for the grandkids to play with. It appears to be a WIN8 OS, but it boots to a login screen and my daughter can't remember it. So we can't get to the Windows screen to do anything else. There are several solutions on the internet that list 5-6 steps of restarting off the login screen and supposedly ending up in safe mode then the command prompt to clear the password. It doesn't work. On the last screen your supposed to hit F6 when it goes to restart to get into safe mode. It never does, just boots back to

How to Bypass Win8 Password

Hi guys,
i was trying to access and old notebook with Win8 that has a password which i forgot, what is the safest way to access without needing the password? Back in the day i used a linux OS to change it but i forgot the name. Maybe youve used a more efficient method

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

To which "this" are you referring?
- If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
- If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.
