Windows 10: Trying to diagnose the cause of frequent windows freeze

For the last couple of days, my windows 10 computer has begun freezing up the screen doesn't go blue or black, it just freezes. After startup, my computer works for a while... then at some random point it just freezes up, and I cannot even invoke the task manager.I have been running my computer in safe-mode for a while now without experiencing the problem.These freezes coincided with one notable change I made to my system: I plugged a new Wacom tablet into my computer which automatically initiated some sort of software installation.The wacom software is my primary suspect for several reaso

Diagnose system freeze while it's happening


As I've described here, Anniversary Update causes my laptop's mouse and keyboard to freeze when waking up from sleep, and no amount of troubleshooting has turned up a solution. But what if I were able to interact with the computer (e.g., via remote desktop or quick assist) while it's frozen; what should I look for in order to diagnose the freeze? One obvious thing would be to open the Device Manager and look for a yellow question mark, but that seems like a long shot. What else should I look at to diagnose system freeze while it is happening?

(Why do I think that I may be able to remotely control the laptop while it is frozen? Because I let a Microsoft support tech take control remotely to try to diagnose the problem. At the time, it was frozen on the password login screen and so he could not do any real troubleshooting and I could not enter the password to go any further, but I did notice that he was able to control at least the mouse, maybe also the keyboard, while it was frozen on my end.)

It is windows 7, not sure if it's sp1 or not.

Could that WMI error cause a lockup?

Regarding your last comment, I purchased this from someone so who knows if it was a legit windows 7 or not. Probably not since you pointed that out unfortunately.

You've been really helpful and I appreciate it. I have hope I might be able to actually figure this out now. I will keep digging in event viewer if there's another freeze. But let me know about the WMI and if that could cause a freeze. I looked at the fix and it's not too complicated, I can try and fix it.

Are you sure your wireless card is the cause of the frezzes?, in that case, your system freezes when windows try to install the automatic driver?, if so, then dont let windows install it an try with the brand's original driver.
