Windows 10: Trying to install windows 10 over an old XP installed desktop. Keeps resetting after...

I have an older PC which i'm wanting to use in the man cave just for browsing and YouTube etc. No gaming, no heavy software packages


I've bought a bootable Windows 10 DVD.


I've set the boot priority in the Bios to DVD


It pops up with "press any key to boot from DVD"

After pressing that I get the 4 box blue windows icon which stays on screen for a minute or two then the pc just reboots.


It won't go any further.


The pc is AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ 2GB of Ram.


It currently boots up fine if I don't try to run the install and will load XP and all seems ok.

I can then explore the DVD and see the files etc so I know the DVD drive is working.

If i try to run the setup from within XP I get the "Not a valid win32" fault.


I can't install anything by downloading as I get loads of 'Not supported' 'certificate errors' etc.


Any ideas?

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
