Trying to log in to epic games using xbox, verification gets sent to m****************1.... this email isnt on my microsoft account at all so I have no idea what it is

Access your epic games account, go to the applications and accounts tab and verify that the linked xbox account is the same as your microsoft account.

trying to link MICROSOFT to EPIC GAMES

Too late in this instance, but EPIC have their own game site now, so you can use their site with their games in future.

I don't use the MS Store myself, but they do seem to conflate their XBOX and PC game site. Probably due to MS being

more focused in pushing the XBOX versions of games.

From what I've observed on these forums the stores client software is quite buggy as well.
