  1. Trying to move my OS to new SSD from HDD using windows creation tool

So last night I tried using windows creation tool to move over my OS to my new SSD but things became complicated really fast. I followed the prompts of the tool when downloaded and put the OS files on a spare 32GB flash drive that I had and then proceeded to the BIOS to boot my PC through that said flashdrive. When doing this it asked me what I wanted to select to use as my main storage to boot from as I selected the SSD and then gave me a blue screen after it transfered the OS files toil it told me something about how my PC needed to be repaired and how a required device isn't connected or co

Media creation tool on an SSD/HDD partition?

    Hi,

I have used the windows media creation tool in the past with a USB stick to install a fresh copy of Windows 10.

However I was wondering if it was possible to do the same thing with an SSD or HDD partition, so that if I were to install the drive to a new machine, the machine would be able to boot to that partition, and install windows to that same drive? Assuming that
the machine in question has already had Windows on it previously.

    Thanks!

  3. OS on new SSD, keep existing data on HDD and use as external drive

    Hi,

use steps you suggested, there should be no problem.

Just replace HDD with SSD first then run installation. Do not forget to remove Windows files from HDD after the end of a process.

Trying to move my OS to new SSD from HDD using windows creation tool

OS on new SSD, keep existing data on HDD and use as external drive

I want to use a new SSD to run my OS on my PC. I have a lot of data on my HDD and dont want it on the SSD but do want to keep it.

I have read that you shouldn't use an external drive that has Windows installed so how would i go about doing what I need?

I.e. get Windows onto the SSD, replace HDD with SSD, use HDD as external drive, and keep data from HDD on HDD.

    Thanks!

(P.s. any guides or instructions to any steps would be great but if not then no issue)
