Windows 10: Trying to perform fresh install and cannot due to bitlocker encryption on partition

How can I disable bitlocker on a computer that will not boot

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.

Recovering BitLocker encrypted partition

Hi

I had a drive partition "E" encrypted with BitLocker. My laptop broke and I had to swap the disk on a new laptop. Is there any way to recover data from that encrypted partition?

It shows as an empty partition on the new laptop and I can also add more data to it, I don't know where my previous data is gone.

Another thing I saw is that in BitLocker settings, all drive partitions show as "Bitlocker encrypting", although I have not enabled BitLocker on any partition.

The new laptop is not the same model and runs windows 11, the old one used to run windows 10.

I have a recovery key, but how do I use it? It does not ask for the password or anything and just shows as an empty partition.

Weirdly it allows me to turn on BitLocker, which I have not done yet since it may encrypt it again and completely lose data.
