Windows 10: Trying to reactivate Windows 10 Home after failed Pro activation

Hi,


I had an existing Windows 10 Pro 64bit activation key that I was unaware cannot be used on multiple computers and I changed the product key to my laptop.

I have been trying to revert back to the original product key but have been unsuccessful for the past 48 hours.

I am obtaining the product key via CMD but the key is not working and I get the error code [0xc004f050] when I enter the original OEM key.

I am understanding that this error code is a server issue ? that may be resolved over time, but it seems to me that I am not having any luck.

Reactivation Failed

I have just recently replaced my motherboard/processor and I reformatted my windows hard drive. I gone through the hardware changes steps, I chose the old machine listed on my account and clicked on ACTIVATE.

It now tells me that:

"Unable to activate Windows

We can't reactivate Windows on this device. Try again later."

What am I missing here?

 

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the Activation troubleshooter and try activating Windows 10 Pro again. To run the Activation troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• Click the Start button and select the Settings

• Choose Update & Security from the list.
• Select Activation in the left pane of the window.
• Click Troubleshoot.
